Procedures and Requirements

Baltimore Lab School addresses the needs of children with average to superior intelligence who, through evaluation by a qualified specialist, have been determined to have -- or to be at risk for -- a specific learning disability.

  • Parents unfamiliar with Baltimore Lab School should contact our Admissions Office at 410-735-0038 to arrange a visit and tour.
  • Baltimore Lab School has a rolling admissions process: we accept applications at any time. However, the usual procedure is to submit an application in the fall -- as early as possible -- for the following school year.  It is to your advantage to apply as early as possible to allow time for application review, visit scheduling, and completion of the process.
  • Due to the sensitive nature of application materials (and because faxes are often illegible) please do not fax documents.  Please keep originals for your own files; any materials submitted to Baltimore Lab School remain part of our confidential records and we are unable to make any copies for you.
  • We cannot process incomplete applications. A complete packet consists of the application form and the following documents:

    1. The complete report of a current Psychoeducational Evaluation (which must have been done within 2 years of submission of application)
    2. Most recent report card
    3. Student Strengths and Needs Profile completed by current teacher(s)
    4. Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or 504 if applicable
    5. Speech/Language and Occupational Therapy testing if applicable
    6. Non-refundable $100 fee ($50 for re-applicants) to cover processing of the application and a review of the records
    7. Recent photo of the student
    8. If applying for 10th, 11th, 12th grades:

      -- most up-to-date official transcript
-- any standardized test reports (HSA, SOL, SSAT, PSAT, SAT, ACT)
-- Letter of Eligibility for Accommodations from: College Board or ACT if previously approved
  • Only when a complete application packet has been received will the Admissions Committee review the records.  If Baltimore Lab School's program seems to be an appropriate fit for the student, s/he will be invited for a classroom visit.
  • Admission decision letters will be mailed after March 1st.  Your response is due 10 days following your receipt of the acceptance letter.
  • If Baltimore Lab School's program is not appropriate for your child, you will be notified as soon as possible after the Committee has reviewed your application materials.
