Based on comprehensive academic assessment, a curriculum is designed for each student along with an individualized plan of instruction. Each student's unique learning style and individual needs are consdered in the development of the student's program.

Class size is limited to no more than five students, which allows time for individual instruction. The experienced Lab School teacher serves not only as a guide to learning, but also as a mentor and an academic friend.

Classes meet every Tuesday and Thursday evening during the 12 week semester. Classes are one hour each and are held between 5:30pm and 9:30pm. Most students enroll in two to three classes each semester.

Occasional seminars are conducted by Sally L. Smith, Founder/Director of The Lab School of Washington, on topics of interest to adult learners and are open to all Night School students without charge.

Classes are held at The Lab School's campus at 4759 Reservoir Road, N.W. The school is easily accessible by public transportation. At the end of each class a Lab School shuttle returns students to the nearest Metro stop. Parking is available on school grounds.
