Speech and Language Therapy
The following areas are explored relative to age level expectancy:
- vocabulary skills
- word retrieval
- following directions
- auditory processing and listening comprehension
- concept knowledge
- sequencing and expressing ideas
- figurative/non-literal language
- grammar/syntax
- sentence formulation
- knowledge of sounds as applied to reading and spelling, sounding out skills (phonology)
- reading skills and reading comprehension
- spelling abilities
- written language production
- language organization and verbal problem solving
- pragmatics/social use of language
- articulation/sound production and motor speech
- voice, prosody (rhythm and intonation), and fluency
We work with students who attend the Lab School day program as well as children and adults from the larger community who come for speech-language services before and/or after our school day. Anyone interested in any of the speech-language services listed above, and/or comprehensive speech-language testing, should feel free to call the Speech and Language Department at The Lab School of Washington.
