Training for Tutors
Lab School Tutors are in demand from outside our school community for working with students of all ages. We have over 700 tutoring clients and continually need qualified tutors. This training program graduates its trainees to become members of the LSW Tutoring Corps.

All applicants must have:
The Lab School of Washington will provide trainees with:
- Do you want to work flexible hours that fit in with your schedule?
- Are you an artist looking for new ways to focus your creative energy?
- Are you interested in teaching, but don't have the time available to pursue it on a full-time basis?
- Do you want to teach children in a one-on-one setting rather than in a classroom situation?
Maybe the Lab School Tutoring Corps is just what you're looking for.
All applicants must have:
- A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and experience working with children or adolescents - as a teacher, camp counselor, advisor, or parent.
- Strong divergent thinking skills combined with a liberal arts background.
- Creativity, interest, motivation and energy.
- Potential and commitment to the program.
The Lab School of Washington will provide trainees with:
- Tuition free 9 month program including intensive training and daily classroom tutoring.
- Group seminars twice weekly addressing scientifically-based teaching strategies.
- Close supervision and instruction by Director of Tutoring and LSW professional staff.
- Opportunity to join the Lab School Tutoring Corps for paid positions with LSW tutoring clients.
After this intensive training, new tutors are expected to become active memebrs of our Tutor Corps - providing excellent tutor services - at The Lab School, in student's own homes and schools.
