Congratulations to the Class of 2023!
On Friday, June 16, The Lab School of Washington's senior class received their diplomas.
The rain held off long enough to complete a beautiful outdoor graduation ceremony on Friday for our departing seniors. The traditional faculty procession kicked off the event before Kim Wargo welcomed the crowd and introduced Paula Mans, the Upper School Teaching Visual Artist who was selected by the senior class to read a poem.
Also taking the stage were Knox West '23, who represented his class with a speech, and Lab parent Congressman Joseph Crowley, who inspired students as this year's graduation speaker. In her final year as the Head of Upper School, Lisa McMahon gave her personal remarks about each student as they came to receive their diploma.
The day before graduation, a new tradition was born: the Class of 2023 participated in the inaugural 'Grad Walk'. In their graduation robes, the class processed in front of the Middle School and traveled to Foxhall where they were greeted by the Lower School students.
We are excited for this remarkable class of students to go out into the world, and can't wait to see where they end up!
