Following the Poetry Trail
Food for thought … a walking meditation ...
Everyone enjoys a nice walk during the lovely weather of springtime, but even better is a walk with poetry!
Recently, students in Intermediate Changemakers Academic Club — headed up by Teaching Artist, Writing Amy Young — installed a poetry trail that winds in and around the Reservoir campus. The trail begins at the top of the steps leading up from Reservoir and winds around the driveway to the courtyard. It continues around the courtyard, down the driveway and into the wetland. Along the way are poems on posts.
The poems were inspired by Camille Dungy's poem "Characteristics of Life" in which she speaks for all the spineless creatures. The students each wrote poems where they spoke for a creature or group of humans.
