Gala 2019: Our Educators, Our Stars
Lab’s 35th Annual Awards Gala Honoring Outstanding Achievers with Learning Differences
Every year, the Gala day and evening bring inspiration to the whole community. We were honored to have three amazing awardees this year — Portrait photographer Platon, Co-Founder and President of Axios Roy Schwartz, and Actor, Producer, and Entrepreneur Maren Rosenberg ’04. They toured both campuses, enjoyed a wonderful performance by Sally Kiernan’s Performing Arts students in Elementary, ate lunch with an eager group of faculty and staff, and seemed to revel in the all-school Q&A assembly as much as we did.
At the National Building Museum, which never disappoints, hundreds of Lab parents, friends and colleagues, along with faculty and staff enjoyed dinner and dancing, raise the paddle, and funny and poignant speeches from the awardees. The theme of “Our Educators, Our Stars” was highlighted in the new video by Lab parent Hugh Drescher and grateful comments from all the awardees and the Co- Chairs, Caroline and Liam Coakley and Jennifer and Michael Miller. The gala was bittersweet, too, as we honored our incomparable Katherine Schantz.
